GUNSHOTS HEARD as police battle rioters near Masjid Musa Mosque in Mombasa. An Al Shabaab flag was raised in the mosque.

Several people who were worshiping in a mosque are feared dead after they clashed with GSUofficers. The officers invaded Masjid Musa Mosque in Majengo District in Mmbasa, after the worshipers believed to be sympathizers of Alshabab defied a police order. They had been told not to meet in that mosque

The police claimed that they had gone to the Masjid Musa mosque to disperse a meeting of suspected Islamic radicals (al shabaab). Its also alleged that the youths were having Jihad lectures when the police attacked.
Al Jazeera news agency reports that chaos began when the youths defied a police warning not to meet and also raised the Al Shabaab flag at the Masjid Musa mosque.
One police officer was found lying in a pool of blood inside a toilet in the mosque’s compound. He had been beaten and seriously injured by the rioting youths. It has not been established whether the policeman survived the attack
